The mission of Combat Stress, one of the many charities supported by Trinity House, is to provide timely, effective clinical treatment and support to veterans who suffer from psychological injuries. It was founded in May 1919, just after the end of the First World War.
The government enquiry following the sinking of the Titanic established six nautical schools around the country. Over 100 years later, the London Nautical School (LNS) is the only remaining one that continues to exist in its original guise.
Originally started as a pair of orphanages in Portsmouth (1825) and Chatham (1902), the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Children’s Fund was established as a benevolent organisation in 1999. Trinity House has been supporting the RNRM Children’s Fund for 35 years.
One of our objectives at the Corporation of Trinity House is to support and promote the next generation of seafarer. The Trinity House Merchant Navy Scholarship Scheme allows candidates from schools, colleges, or in some cases mature students, to train as officer cadets and, following academic and sea phases, become officers in the Merchant Navy.
