In Merrick Square, there were many stalls, selling goods ranging from furniture through jewellery to cakes and ale; a tombola (popular with both young and old); activities for children; various refreshments, and much more. Tall Poppies and Miguel's jazz band (pictured) played the music. TNRA thanks Trinity House for permission to hold this annual event.
OPERA IN THE SQUARE
On Sunday 31 July over 100 residents and friends enjoyed an afternoon of opera favourites while having picnics and drinks on a fine afternoon in Trinity Church Square garden. Caroline Foulkes, Lawrence Olsworth-Peter, Samuel Pantcheff and Melanie Sanders (pictured L to R) gave splendid renditions of songs from many operas, explaining and acting out the scenarios. Thanks to United St Saviour's Charity for supporting this event.

On Thursday 8 September, local writer and performer John Constable, a resident of Trinity Church Square, led another of his popular walks exploring the history and legends of our neighbourhood. An audience of 70 people enjoyed his Ghost Walk, combining tales of the supernatural with performances from his own work inspired by a real-life encounter with the ghost of a "Winchester Goose". The walk ended at the Cross Bones Graveyard before the group retired to The Boot & Flogger for a pint or two. Here they are outside St George the Martyr church in the gathering gloom.
